How to Write a Bang-up Bio
Workshop for Made Local/Share Exchange By Lynda McDaniel, Your Inspired Writing Coach
Tuesday, November 11, 2014 6-8pm Share Space, 533 5th Street, Santa Rosa Cost: $25 You've got a great story to tell, a story that no one else has. In fact, your story is almost as important as your product. That's because all of us -- your customers, gallery owners, friends, and family are wired for stories. Scientists have proven that stories light up our brains and trigger emotions, where we buy and buy in.
This workshop shares proven techniques to add oomph to your bio, which you can use in your galleries, stores, newsletters, articles, blogs, Web pages, books, even your Facebook pages. You'll learn how to: 1. Deconstruct artist bios to find a blueprint for yours 2. Brainstorm about your accomplishments and your vision 3. Write your first draft fast (and other speedwriting techniques) 4. Use similes, anecdotes, examples, and case studies to reinforce your message 5. Add creative techniques to make your bio shine 6. Create a call to action that ensures the response you want
We'll roll up our sleeves and explore all these possibilities, reserving time for actual writing and coaching. I love helping people get over the hurdles of writing everything from how to chase away the fear of a blank page to how to create a polished piece. You will leave this lively presentation with a renewed sense of confidence and new techniques for writing and finishing your bio and other promotion materials.
