BUDDY MONDLOCK with guests Central Standard Time
Nothing better than spending a crisp autumn night with good friends & good food in an intimate setting while enjoying some of the best acoustic music available anywhere as Nashville songwriter Buddy Mondlock returns to Eastern Iowa to share his own brand of original music.
THE SHOW:
BUDDY MONDLOCK (back by popular demand!)
Buddy's music is honest, magical, fun, introspective and at times dreamlike. He draws you in to the edge of the world where you can run away with the circus, discover illusive Roman cats & find lost loves, then wraps it all up with sincerity and a tapestry of rhythm and light.
He's toured with Art Garfunkel (Simon & Garfunkel) and has performed with many greats -- Peter, Paul & Mary, Janis Ian, Guy Clark and Nanci Griffith to name just a few. With several original albums to his credit, his songs have been performed and recorded by a multitude of stars as well. His most recent solo album (The Edge of the World, Sparking Gap Records c 2007) is his most personal recording to date. The song cycle is an introspective journey from childhood through to the disintegration of a marriage and beyond. And while always a wry observer of the social interactions of human beings, the song ÂBig Fish, Shallow Water takes on a political edge as well. Buddy did most of the playing and singing himself, with a little help from longtime friend, bassist Mike Lindauer. Then co-producer Jim Tullio added just the right sonic touches of percussion and atmospheric guitar to glue it all together.
Back it up a bit... in 1987 he was a New Folk Award Winner at Kerrville and he released his first album called ÂOn the LineÂ. In the next few years David Wilcox recorded ÂThe Kid on his first record for A&M. Buddy did some writing with this other new kid in town named Garth Brooks. Janis Ian heard him singing at the Bluebird Cafe and asked him if heÂd like to write with her. Their song ÂAmsterdam got recorded by Joan Baez. Nanci Griffith asked Buddy to sing on a show she was taping for Irish television. She ended up liking that song so much that she recorded ÂComin Down In the Rain on her Grammy Award winning collection ÂOther Voices, Other Rooms. Garth became a star and ÂEvery Now and Then ended up on his album ÂThe Chase.Â

Still not convinced? See what folks have to say about Buddy...
Writers and Club Owners say: ÂMondlockÂs songs are like movies you want to see again. He starts with the same world we all see and hear, but he transforms the sights and sounds into revelations that delight and melodies that linger. Ed Morris - Billboard Magazine
ÂBuddy Mondlock is the most startling new songwriting talent IÂve heard this year. This guy is an American Original, a folk poet whose vision veers effortlessly from wild witticism to soul-piercing insights. Living proof that the troubadour tradition sings on. Robert K. Oermann - Syndicated Music Writer
ÂAs acclaimed as he is as a songwriter, he is a fine performer who can create his share of magic with his high clear voice and inventive acoustic guitar. David Johnson - Boston Globe
