ALIAS - Fall 2009 Concert
Turner Recital Hall, Blair School of Music Nashville, TN
ALIAS presents the first concert of the 2009-10 season on Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11, 2009. The concert will honor veterans with performances of two works. The first is the world premiere of the chamber arrangement of Always, Always by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Paul Moravec. Scored for baritone solo, clarinet and string quartet, Always, Always uses the text of a letter from a Civil War soldier to his wife. The second piece, An Unlikely Suspect, was composed by Jason Sagebiel, a veteran who was a Marine sniper in Iraq. ALIAS will continue its two-year series Emerging Voices, focusing on the work of women composers, by presenting String Quartet no. 1 by American composer Nancy Galbraith and four songs by Amy Beach.
