Tim Gearan & The Tuesday Loop with special guest Jess Klein
TIM GEARAN: Named "Residency King of the Hub" and said to be "just too talented to remain a local hero," by The Boston Globe; Tim Gearan, the Boston based singer-songwriter was awarded Boston Music Award's Best Ongoing Residency in 2012, (Atwood's Tavern on Friday nights) as well as the first Gibson Guitar sponsored Unsung Hero Award at the BMA's in 2004.
Known for his guttural voice, powerful song writing and masterful guitar playing, Tim Gearan was raised in New York, yet is lovingly claimed by the legendary Boston music community, where he has been playing music for over 20 years.
Gearan performed on Grammy nominated, American Blues artist, Susan Tedeschi's 1998 debut album, "Just Won't Burn," and has been regularly sought after by countless musicians for his uninhibited, soulful guitar playing, vocal harmonies and creative soaring abilities.
After 10 years of touring nationally and abroad as a sideman guitarist for Toni Lynn Washington, Gearan settled down in Somerville, Massachusetts and presently performs his own music with a remarkable band of Boston MVPs almost exclusively, occasionally stripping down his songs for his Tuesday Loop residency at Atwood's Tavern on select Tuesdays.
JESS KLEIN: Over a career that spans more than a decade and a half and has won her a devoted worldwide fan base, Klein - who possesses what Mojo magazine calls "one of those voices you want to crawl up close to the speakers to listen to" and a knack for writing songs that the Cape Cod Times has described as "fully realized, finely observed and deeply felt" - has pursued a remarkable creative evolution that's seen her dig ever deeper for resonant emotional insights, while continuing to refine her eloquently melodic, effortlessly accessible song craft. As the New York times noted, Klein is an artist who "has country roots, but who pushes her songs toward philosophical thoughts".
"Learning Faith" - which marks Klein's third collaboration with veteran producer Mark "Professor Feathers" Addison - boasts ten personally-charged new originals that rank with her most compelling and illuminating work. Such bracing tunes as "Surrender", "So Fucking Cool", "Wish", "Long Way Down" and "If There's A God" (which she was inspired to write after protesting in support of State Senator Wendy Davis' pro-choice 2013 filibuster at the Texas state capitol building) embody the complementary mix of personal fearlessness and musical craftsmanship that define Klein's music.
