Gamelan Sakar Jaya and Destiny Arts present: Tjak Box
Rhythmix Cultural Works Alameda, CA
Gamelan Sekar Jaya and Destiny Arts welcome you to the premier of *TJAK BOX*âan exciting new cross-cultural dance work that brings together Balinese dance with hip hop & urban folk dance, woven together by two outstanding dancers from very different traditions: Emiko Saraswati Susilo (GSJ artist-in-residence) and Rashidi Omari Byrd (dancer/teacher from Destiny Arts). The collaboration, supported in part by a grant from the East Bay Community Foundation special Fund For Artists, will be performed by company dancers from Destiny Arts and Sekar Jaya. Additionally, each group will perform works from their companyâs repertoire, making the evening a full-to-the-brim, not-to-miss show.
