charleston 101 walking tour
As you walk through the city streets on this leisurely two-hour stroll, your experience will be more than just a tour. You will begin to share your guide's enthusiasm and passion for a place, a history and a culture that has been part of her family for more than 150 years. Mary Coy is licensed by the city of Charleston as an official tour guide and is also a docent at one of the area's historic plantations. She has taught in a variety of settings including museums, historic sites, and traditional classrooms and is an author of several books about Charleston as well as a freelance writer for various local publications. Tours leave from the Powder Magazine on Cumberland Street, a block for the historic City Market. (There is a parking garage across the street.) City regulations limit the maximum tour size to twenty people, so it is advised to purchase tickets ahead of time. Tours are not open to children under the age of 12 due to the length of the tour. Private tours and small group tours are also available at select times.
