*** Online sales have ended. You can buy your tickets at the door. Thank you! ***
This party will feature the brand new San Francisco based Amy Obenski Band including Daniel Brown (cello), Steve Uccello (bass) and Roger Kim (electric guitar). Plus you'll hear grooves from DJ Sig O and see live painting by notable SF artist, Joshua Coffy.
"I'm keeping it local this time," says Amy. "I wanted to create a real celebration vibe which is why we're having a DJ and live painting. Also, the new band is really gonna blow the lid off the music. I'm trying to keep some things true to the recording, but since all the musicians are different (other than me) we're also gonna let it morph into it's own beast."
With a stark and honest intensity, Amy Obenski's rich and crystalline voice cuts through the noise of every day life. She's a California native. Raised in San Diego and now based in San Francisco, the sound of the far west is unmistakably infused into her words and music. She's toured the West Coast for ten years and even got her song "Carousel" into the Hollywood scene when it was placed on the TV Show, Grey's Anatomy.
The story of Restless:
In 2011 Amy went to Europe for the first time with a mind open to surprises. This is where she met The Carbone Band from Nantes, France. During her one-week visit they had one practice and two concerts. The music was a collision of Amy's free, California girl sound and the French's deep passion and intensity. The music and their personalities immediately clicked.
Two days after her return to California, Amy decided she was going back to France. And not only did she return to France but she planned a four-month tour to get her there where she eventually reunited with The Carbone Band. The music started to grow and solidify into a unique collaboration: Intensely passionate, grounded rock that sways as if floating on the breeze.
The following summer, Amy returned to Europe for a third time and spent three months with The Carbone Band. They recorded her 5th album together and participated in an artist in residence at La Maison des Arts in Saint Herblain. (Near Nantes)
Her fifth album, Restless, was released on July 1st, 2014. Restless features the distinctive sound of The Carbone Band and also students and associates of La Maison des Arts, including a string ensemble, harps, vibraphone, flute and clarinet. The Carbone Band is comprised of Philippe Crochet on guitar, Josselin Sebille on bass and Mourad Aït Abdelmalek on the drums.
