A Cheese and Cheers Moveable Feast
The cheese will not stand alone, or stand around! The first in a series of intimate cheese, beer and wine tours, each comprising a tasting of six cheeses or more with accompanying beverages.
For our first outing, on Sunday Oct. 5, we will start with a paired Cheese and Beer Brunch at Goose Island's Clybourn Brewpub, featuring samples of three Goose Island beers paired with artisan cheeses, and a brief brewery tour. Next we will visit two of the Chicago area's best cheese retailers, where the tasting fun will continue. For this outing, stops will include award-winning retailers Marion Street Cheese Market in Oak Park, and Pastoral Artisan Cheese, Bread & Wine, (and the adjacent Bar Pastoral), which are among the best in the Midwest. The event runs from 11:30 a.m until around 4 pm.
Cheese and Cheers director David Phillips will offer insights on pairing cheese with beer and wine, while helping guests discover the delightful experience of shopping for American artisan cheeses (as well as craft beer and fine wine) at full-service establishments. Each retail stop will include at least one glass of beer or wine (your choice), and delicious cheese samples. Coach transportation will be provided. Guests will also have the opportunity to purchase some of these fine artisan products to take home and share with friends! Aromas are included at no extra charge. This is a non-smoking event and you must be 21 and show ID.
