Bah Humbug - A one-man Christmas Carol in Austin, TX
The Company Theatre kicks off the fourth annual holiday tour of BAH HUMBUG throughout the state of Texas. Award-winning actor and company principal, Damian Gillen, will present his unique, one-man adaptation of the classic A Christmas Carol during a statewide tour, which will make a stop in Austin, TX, for one night only, at the Dougherty Arts Center on December 21st at 7:30pm. The nine-city tour will end with a performance at San Antonio's famous Arneson River Theatre on the Riverwalk on December 23rd at 7:30pm.
BAH HUMBUG is an imaginative adaptation of Charles Dickens timeless tale of hope and compassion, but it has a unique twist. Gillen plays all the roles in this theatrical extravaganza that chronicles the story of the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge, who is challenged to open his heart after being confronted by three spirits during a one-night whirlwind journey of redemption. The play is supported by numerous costume changes, special effects and traditional Celtic Christmas tunes.
Gillen has been acting professionally for more than 25 years and has served as the managing artistic director for The Company Theatre for the past 13 years. He has given more than 120 performances of BAH HUMBUG since 2002, and last year he completed 28 shows in 30 days, a number he hopes to double this season. Gillen, has or will perform the production in venues as far-ranging as Opera Houses, Christmas Festivals, Prison Ministries, as Church fundraisers and schools all across Texas!
Because of the initial success of BAH HUMBUG, The Company Theatre expanded its artistic focus and began its Educational Outreach Program, which takes family-friendly and Christian productions like BAH HUMBUG to schools, churches and theatres across Texas. BAH HUMBUG alone has been seen by more than 10,000 people in less than three years
