San Juan String Fest - a KVNF Fundraising Event
KVNF Community Radio presents a truly unique musical and dining experience at the Chipeta Solar Springs Resort and Spa in Ridgway Colorado. This adobe style "Elite Retreat" has been voted one of Colorado's top ten inns. The event features a host of musical talent, all in an intimate and luxurious spa setting.
The musical lineup includes:
John Cowan, an American soul music and progressive bluegrass vocalist and bass guitar player is universally known as "The Voice of Newgrass." As a member of New Grass Revival, he helped create a sound which brought a new audience to bluegrass music. John currently divides his time between touring with the Doobie Brothers as bass player and vocalist and touring with his own band.
Jim Lauderdale, an American country, bluegrass, and Americana singer-songwriter has released 23 studio albums. His songs have been recorded by George Strait, Elvis Costello, Blake Shelton, the Dixie Chicks, Vince Gill, and Patty Loveless. Jim won the Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album in 2002 and 2007, and was nominated in 2006 and 2009.
Drew Emmitt, an American mandolinist, guitarist, fiddle player, occasional flutist and singer is best known for being one of the founding members of Leftover Salmon, as well as being the frontman of the Left Hand String Band, Drew Emmitt Band, and the Emmitt-Nershi Band. Drew is revered as one of the most energetic and innovative mandolin players on the jamband/newgrass scene today.
Grant Farm - featuring National Flat Pick Guitar Champion, Tyler Grant. Tyler is an internationally recognized guitar virtuoso with two solo albums and an impressive resume as a session musician, bandleader and sideman. He has shared the stage with such luminaries as Tony Rice, Sam Bush, Tim O'Brien, Jerry Douglas, Chris Thile, John Oates, Steve Kaufman, Leftover Salmon, Yonder Mountain String Band and The String Cheese Incident.
Other bands and musicians on the schedule include Joint Point, Bone Wagon, John and Candace McCoy, Bruce Hayes, Free the Honey, Royal We, Tony Rosario and others.
There will be many opportunities for musicians to jam together at one of the many venues at the Chipeta Resort.
This is an over 21 event.
