Les Delices is thrilled to be named Artists in Residence at Plymouth Church in Shaker Heights for 2009-2010. The Herr Chapel at Plymouth is intimate and beautiful. The acoustics also happen to be gorgeous, making it a great venue for enjoying a Sunday afternoon concert! Plus, one can make an evening of it, and head over to the restaurants in nearby Shaker Square afterwards for an early dinner.
Les Delices regulars Scott Metcalfe (violin), Emily Walhout (viola da gamba), and Lisa Crawford (harpsichord) return for this intimate program of tributes. French Baroque composers, in particular, frequently paid homage to their greatest influences, or created musical representations of their friends and colleagues. This program features Francois Couperin's "Apotheosis of Lully," selected "tombeaux" and other musical caricatures (maybe even an arrangement of Ravel's Tombeau de Couperin!).
