Broadcast Journalist Series with Eric Deggans
Celebrating its 20th season, Minnesota Public Radio's Broadcast Journalist Series commissions journalists and correspondents for a 24-hour residency four times a year, 3 in the fall and one in the spring this season. While here they share insights on their craft as well as on people and events. Hosted by MPR's Tom Weber, all events take place at the University of St. Thomas O'Shaughnessy Education Center. The Fall season of the Broadcast Journalist Series is hosted by MPR's Tom Weber.
Eric Deggans is NPR's first full-time TV critic, crafting stories and commentaries for broadcasts such as Morning Edition and All Things Considered, along with an array of written contributions to NPR.org and the website's blogs such as Code Switch, Monkey See and The Two Way. He is also the award winning author of Race-Baiter: How the Media Wields Dangerous Words to Divide a Nation, a look at how prejudice, racism and sexism fuels some elements of modern media.
Tom Weber serves as co-host for MPR News' The Daily Circuit. He has won the regional Edward R. Murrow awards for writing and use of sound.
