What is a "gala"?
The word "gala" comes from the Italian noun "gala", used to describe a robe worn during festivities. According to Merriam-Webster, it is defined as a festive celebration; especially: a public entertainment marking a special occasion. MOI'M's first gala will bring together Korean and Korean-American students and young professionals from the East Coast area and encourage a discussion on how our generation can give back to the Korean community.
A historic landmark bank built in 1924, Gotham Hall is a monument to style. Gotham Hall boasts a magnificent Art Deco ballroom with a seven-story-tall grand vaulted dome, elliptical gold leaf ceiling with opaque stained glass, Corinthian limestone columns, gilded chandelier and sconces, and imported marble floors. It has played host to everything from a Mariah Carey concert to a Grammy after-party. The ballroom accommodates 1,200 guests for cocktails, 800 for seated dinner and 650 with dancing. There is also a mezzanine that overlooks the grand ballroom, which is an ideal space for cocktail hour.
