Voices from Afar: Voyage for Cello, Soprano, and Choir
Travel to distant shores, carried aloft by one of the Rocky Mountain region's most extraordinary talents: Jurgen de Lemos, principal cellist of the Colorado Symphony Orchestra (recently retired after 41 years with the CSO). Don't miss a rare opportunity to hear this exceptional artist in a special program of works for cello, soprano, and chorus.
Featured music includes the Colorado premiere of British composer Tarik O'Regans "Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis: Variations for Choir"; Baltic composer Veljo Tormis' "Helletused" (featuring soloist Tana Cochran); John Taveners "Svyati" and "Akhmatova Songs"; and works by Gregg Smith, Joan Szymko, and Bill Douglas.
