TUCUMCARI the Play
For the first time, TUCUMCARI is being directed by its playwright, Riley Steiner, in its upcoming production this August at the Whitmore-Lindley Theatre in North Hollywood.
Riley Steiner has been a theatre professional for over three decades, working on stage and television. Her acting credits include playing Ophelia in Hamlet under Anthony Hopkins' direction in New York, voice work with Tom Hanks in Toy Story, and dying valiantly on General Hospital. Her classical training began at the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco and she studied for many years with the legendary Uta Hagen at H.B. Studios. Two of her plays, Tucumcari and Summer Feet were awarded staged readings in the prestigious Plays in Progress series at the Utah Shakespearean Festival in Cedar City. She directed a staged reading of her third play, Good Pilgrim at the Fountain Theatre. Steiner recently returned to her first love by earning an MFA in Shakespeare and Performance at Mary Baldwin College in Virginia. While in Virginia, she created and directed Pieces of the Man, a Chekhov project and Miss Julie. Her Shakespeare credits include directing Two Noble Kinsmen, Dido; Queen of Carthage, A King and no King, and Volpone. She is thrilled to be back in LA, directing Tucumcari for the first time.
"TUCUMCARI takes place in New Mexico during the dust bowl period of the 1920's, though the theme is timeless. If you're a writer, you shouldn't miss this production. There is so much theater to choose from in Los Angeles, but rarely is the writing so poignant as it is in this play. A once in a lifetime chance to see a gripping piece directed by the playwright herself! If you want beauty, intelligence, emotion and sexiness, it's all here -- and the play has all of that, too!"
Come and see our extraordinary actors, Ric Maddox, Hallie Cooper and Noah Holcomb take the stage and make you fall in love with them!
