Sauerkraut Made Simple
CUESA's teaching kitchen at the Ferry Building San Francisco, CA
CUESA is proud to host Sauerkraut Made Simple taught by Kathryn Lukas. Kathryn is the mastermind behind Farmhouse Culture (http://www.farmhouseculture.com/index.html) and was a proud participant at Slow Food Nation in 2008. She is one of several artisans leading the way in developing a strong California kraut tradition using local and organic produce and is looking forward to sharing the wisdom she's gained while developing the inventive recipes (using ingredients such as apples, jalapeos, and summer squash) for her Santa Cruz-based company. This two-hour class includes background on the history, science, and health benefits of raw cultured sauerkraut and a hands -on kraut making lesson. All participants will leave with a mason jar full of starter kraut they can take home and care for as it cultures.
Note: Thank you for joining us for the Sauerkraut Made Simple class. Our kitchen can be hard to find if you haven't been there before. We are on the North or left side of the Clock tower, in front of the Ferry Building.
