Fertile GroundWorks Second Annual Taste For Giving
We would like to invite you to an outstanding end of summer event celebrating and supporting Fertile GroundWorks. Please come enjoy complimentary wines, delicious appetizers and join in the silent and live auctions at the beautiful Crooked Vine/ Stony Ridge Winery here in Livermore.
Fertile GroundWorks' mission is to encourage, empower and teach individuals and communities to grow healthy, nutritious food for themselves and others, including those in need.
In the last two years, Fertile GroundWorks volunteers have grown and harvested more than 25,000 pounds of produce. All of our produce has been given to Open Heart Kitchen, our community's food pantries and our elderly neighbors.
In addition to providing healthy organic food to our community members, Fertile GroundWorks uses our gardens as hands on teaching environments. In the first six months of 2014 more then 250 volunteers have learned about sustainable gardening while donating more then 3,000 man hours.
Fertile GroundWorks is also champions and facilitates the creation of new community/institutional gardens. In the last year Fertile GroundWorks volunteers established gardens at three high schools for their Agricultural Science and Culinary Arts programs, two elementary schools for their science programs and at two churches to help them provide food for their neighbors.
