RAC Presents "Soley Schubert," with Tomas Cotik, violin and Tao Lin, piano
With insight from writing a dissertation on Schubert, Tomas Cotik joined with Tao Lin to record a CD that became the 2013 MusicWeb International's Recording of the Year.  Join us for two days of historical musical insight and virtuosity with Schubert's complete works for violin and piano. "Urgently recommended," by Fanfare magazine, and described as "duet playing at a very high level. Not once to Cotik and Lin fall into the trap of becoming soloist and accompanist.  Instead, they treat us to an equally weighted partnership that glories in changing colorations and shared emphasis." Hailed by Michael Tilson Thomas as an "excellent violinist," this will prove to be an incredible and enriching weekend.

Tomas Cotik, violin and Tao Lin, piano started performing as a duo in 2011 through a shared passion, devotion and commitment to chamber music. The first volume or their complete works of Schubert for Violin and Piano was released in 2012 on Centaur Records to rave reviews. Fanfare magazine calls the program of their debut album "outstanding" and praises the performance for its "genialitybrilliancepure toneprofound scholarshiplofty musicianshipboldness of gesture subtlety rich timbral nuance." This recording was also nominated on MusicwebInternational as "Recording of the year".

In 2013 NAXOS released their album "Tango Nuevo" with music by Astor Piazzolla for violin and piano described by the critics as "among the very best" Piazzolla albums. 2014 sees the release of Schubert's Sonatinas on Centaur Records and numerous live performances around the country. Tomas Cotik and Tao Lin have just signed a long-term contract with Centaur Record to record four albums with Mozart's complete Sonatas for violin and piano.
