Early Music Voices: Dowland in Dublin - La Nef with Michael Slattery, tenor
A celebration of the Renaissance lute composer John Dowland's Irish connections, La Nef imagines how some of Dowland's tunes would have sounded if played in a 16th-century pub. Working closely with Michael Slattery, they developed a program with a simple, Celtic flavour. Midway between folk songs and art songs, this evening promises to charm!
Pre-concert talk begins at 7:00pm.
"...these versions are lilting, teasing, immediately familiar and yet pleasingly different. Whatever your thoughts are on Dowland's heritage, there's no denying the musicality, charm and appoachability of this recording."
