Described as heartbreaking and fascinating by New Theater Corps and winning performance by NYtheatre.com, Recess is Una Aya Osato's latest one woman show, an impassioned response to her experiences attending and teaching in NYC's public schools. A performer whose presence demands attention, Una seamlessly untangles silences and ultimately weaves together voices of one school teacher and five youth to conjure a collective narrative of hope despite the very overwhelming and very adult bureaucracy of the NYC public schools. Recess has inspired sold-out audiences from NYCs Frigid Festival to South Africa with its tender portrayal of an often, brutal system.
