Detroit Creativity Project (Detroit)
The Detroit Creativity Project is an in school improv theatre program offered by a group of Detroit creatives and Y Arts Detroit. We believe in the power of improvisation and in the future of Detroit's youth. We offer these classes free of charge to area schools to help students build confidence as well as communication and collaborative skills.
Celebrity Soapbox (Detroit)
The Celebrity Soapbox is long-form improvisation in which a monologist tells personal stories that provides the inspiration for the resulting scenes. The cast is made up of both local and visiting improvisers, and the monologuists are:
Alan Longstreet (Fox 2 Meteorologist)
Born and raised in Coopersville, Michigan, Alan spent his winters sledding down the side of the county dump and summers perusing the wildly informative Farm Museum. His college studies have taken him from Grand Rapids Community College to Central Michigan University with a short and unproductive stint to Florida in between. Unfortunately he can't bring you the typical meteorologist meets tornado love story, but he has become fascinated with the unpredictability of Mother Nature.
While he's not working the green screen, you can find him working it in Studio C as my bosses parade him around in tight t's for a weekly fitness segment. He also has a dog who loves him very much and a wife that sometimes tolerates him.
He has only recently worked up the courage to give improv a shot, so keep the heckling to a minimum. Or don't, but if you must, keep it clever!
Cal Cagno (89X Host)
Cal Cagno is the host of Cal & Co. heard weekday mornings 5:30- 9AM on 89X. Cal was born and raised in Royal Oak Michigan. He studied broadcasting at Central Michigan University and has been with 89X since 1999. Cal has been married for 12 years and has 2 children. He also owns a 1964 Pepsi glass bottle vending machine in his house. Before mornings he previously worked the 3-7pm shift for five years before taking over mornings in November of 2012!
The 313 (L.A.)
The 313... made in Detroit. Troupe is made up of Detroit natives: Josh Funk, Nyima Funk, Andy Cobb, Maribeth Monroe, Jaime Moyer, Keegan-Michael Key, Marc Evan Jackson and Marc Warzecha
