Two fantastic acts join up for one impressive night at The Lizard Lounge. Love in Stockholm's classic rock roots and incendiary live show combined with Sarah Blacker's rock tinged folk will present a powerful night of music for those lucky to enough to attend.

LOVE IN STOCKHOLM
With most bands from their home neighborhood of Allston, Massachusetts being somewhat counterculture, you might think Love in Stockholm's classic rock roots would make them an unlikely standout on their home turf. On the contrary, fans their own age find them hard to ignore, and fans of their parents' generation welcome a harkening back to the golden age of rock music. If 2010's A King's Ransom was a scientific experiment of sorts, 2013's Hold Back the Sun shows that they've refined the formula. Produced by Boston heavy hitter Ed Valauskas (Eli "Paperboy" Reed, The Click Five), LiS makes a twofold statement with this release: they know what they're good at, and they're offering something mainstream music is otherwise lacking. Their hometown blog Allston Pudding perhaps put it best: "Not only are they tremendously talented, but they play a brand of music that is engaging even if you don't know every lyric. Allston may be rock city, but if you can get out of the garage once in a while, Love in Stockholm is one of the tightest bands around."

Indeed, they've built their reputation on the strength of their live show, and keep this in mind when writing new material. At a time when synth pop has made an astounding comeback, it's hard to be relevant as rock musicians with nothing but instruments, amplifiers, and microphones. But the response they get from their audience is enough to show that they're doing something that works. And without hesitation, the guys are back in the studio, cooking up big things for the year to come.

SARAH BLACKER
'Female Performer of the Year' in the New England Music Awards (2012), Boston-based 2012 Boston Music Award nominee for Singer/Songwriter of the year, Sarah Blacker, was also a nominee for Songwriter of the Year, and Song of the Year for 2013s single, 'Shiver,' in the New England Music Awards. Her heart-felt version of songwriting has been coined, "Sundress rock," and she was recently called "one of the brighter artists to grab our attention recently," by national Roots publication, No Depression. The Boston Herald's Jed Gottleib called her, "Boston's delightful folk nymph," yet he also said of her, "Sarah Blacker makes some of the most interesting folk music in Boston  mostly by making folk the starting point and reaching out toward rock, Americana and prog." She is a prolific singer/songwriter currently in the studio recording her 3rd full-length album, (Blacker has penned 2 full-lengths and 2 EPs in just 4 years) her previous currently receiving airtime on local NPR station, WUMB, and Emerson's WERS as well as many other AAA and college stations worldwide. Blacker is regularly recognized throughout New England since she won the Radio 92.9 / Boch Subaru contest and became the face and voice of their New England ad campaign for "ooh ooh it's love," NE Subaru. Her music is currently featured in an AlignCredit TV Commercial and has been featured on the MTV shows, Jersey Shore & Friendzone. In just 3 years, she has garnered these accolades, performed at SXSW, CMJ and a sold-out tour of Germany, and has toured extensively with reggae-pop star, Mishka, and shared the stage with America, 10,000 Maniacs, Rusted Root, Paula Cole, The Wood Brothers, Sara Bareilles, Jason Isbell, Carbon Leaf, and Anais Mitchell to name just a few. She is a business savvy, hard-working musician, who also spends 8 hours a week (in the spring, fall and winter) as a Music Therapist for adults in a psych hospital and with children with Asperger's. Her entrancing voice, poignant and emotionally charged lyrics, and mature songwriting has this artist on pace to go nowhere but up.
