Hometown Desert Derby Duel: Benefit for Dave Lopez
David Lopez went into kidney failure in April 2014. He needs a new kidney and a new pancreas. David is no longer able to work. He lives in Tucson AZ with his wife and children. David grew up in Superior AZ and his wife Diana graduated high school in Winkelman AZ. Cassandra "Death Proof" Alderete, their daughter is now skating with Tucson Roller Derby. Hometown Desert Derby Duel will help the family pay for medical bills, and trips to the Mayo Clinic where David will be tested for transplant and eventually have the surgery. The testing starts with a full week at the Mayo clinic. Following that week, there will be several other days of testing. After he is transplanted, the family will have to stay in Scottsdale for at least four weeks. Diana will have to take off several days from work.
We are hopeful The HOMETOWN DESERT DERBY DUEL will be a fun and worthwhile event for all who attend and participate. We would like to thank everyone in advance for volunteering, participating and attending.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO BRING YOUR OWN CHAIRS AND BEER (no bottles are allowed, there is a $300 fine if bottles are found). There will be booths, drawings, food and drinks. Prices: $10 adults $7 ages 7-17 and no charge for children ages 6 and under. Camping overnight is an option and will be $40 per camp. The funds for camping go to the town of Winkelman.
Because Winkelman, Arizona is such a small town, there will be no problem finding the event. There will be signs to guide the out of town people.
