William Coulter, John Weed and Aria DiSalvio
The dynamic acoustic trio of guitarist William Coulter, fiddler John Weed and cellist Aria DiSalvio will mesmerize and delight with their artful arrangements of traditional and contemporary tunes. Fusing folk styles Ireland, Scotland, Sweden, Spain and beyond with modern influences results in a sound both ancient and cutting edge - a rhythmically vibrant, melodically engaging chamber-folk music at home in the concert hall or on the dance hall. Grammy winner and Gourd Music recording artist Coulter has been performing traditional music for over 20 years. His latest solo album is The Road Home and has featured on many CDs by others, including Shelley & Barry Phillips, Mary McLaughlin, Neal Hellman and Eilis Kennedy. Weed is well known as a member of Molly's Revenge, Story Road and Little Black Train. if you've not yet experienced fiery fiddling, this will be the perfect opportunity. As Emerson wrote, 'A Weed is a flower whose virtues have not yet been discovered.' And sure there's always room for cello. A classically trained cellist, DiSalvio's move to Santa Cruz and subsequent discovery of Celtic music has seen her perform with fiddlers Alasdair Fraser from Scotland and Andrea Beaton from Cape Breton and join the ever-growing ranks of players of that instrument stretching the limits of traditional cello technique and style.
