Kathleen Murray is a 20 year-old folk singer-songwriter from Santa Cruz, California. The culmination of influences (Joni Mitchell and Bob Dylan to the current Laura Marling and Fiest) along with the constant desire to create honest music have led to the creation of her debut album, Woodland Voices. Making an album was not something Kathleen saw in her near future. Songwriting had become a private space where she could process thoughts and create honestly, however the idea of sharing this with others was not in mind. It wasn't until she was living in the redwoods of Big Basin and sharing music amongst close friends that she developed the drive to put together an album that would soon be given the title, Woodland Voices. Each character, each sound and instrument is written with intention and works together to create an atmosphere of wonder and realization. Harmonies weave around violins as a banjo picks to affirm an unexpected tempo, all the while Kathleen's voice kisses the themes of discovery and authenticity. Before packing up her life in California and singing her way to the shores of Washington, Kathleen will be putting on a CD Release show for the town that raised her. Join her and a lively bunch of musicians in the celebratory welcoming of Woodland Voices.
"With a unique and personal twist on folk songwriting and a luscious vocal-heavy approach, Kathleen's style is truly emerging -- this promises to be one of the more moving and original releases of 2014." -Andy Zenczak (Producer @ Gadgetbox Recording Studio)
