In 1979, 20th Century Fox released, "The Rose" starring Bette Midler. The film which loosely portrayed a Janis Joplin-like character earned her an Oscar nomination. With an authentic rock score, the musical film has reached a cult status.
In honor of its 30th anniversary, the film is finally coming to the stage at La Esquina in Kansas City, MO.
