The Night Before...The Mourning After.
Adonia is a powerful reflection on rhythm and energy, an unresolved conversation confronting pressing political realities with the primal pounding of STEP, dance, live music, fight choreography, and Aerial Acrobatics.
At a time like ours, it is important that we remain aware of the arbitrary rifts dividing parents from children, brothers from sisters, neighbors from friends. Some beliefs we are born with; others - we are taught.
'Adonia' explores the ways in which conflict communicates. Inspired by summer festivals from Greece, Latvia, Finland, and the Ukraine, 'Adonia' draws elements from each, interpreting traditions and legends to arrive at a distilled, rhythmic rendition of cultural interactions, and also engaging in a ritualistic festival both celebrating the life and mourning the death of the God Adonis.
