The Servant of Two Masters
Wolfpack Theatre will be presenting The Servant of Two Masters this Fall. Once called, "The Slapstick of All Slapstick Comedies," The Servant of Two Masters is guaranteed to be a fast paced, knee slapping good time. The plot revolves around Truffaldino, a servant, who is on a never ending hunt for more bread. To keep from going hungry, he takes on two masters, but the confusion begins when one of his masters disguises herself as the other!
The Servant of Two Masters is written in the style of Commedia dell'arte, which translates to "Comedy of Art", is a form of improv from the classic period in Italy. In Commedia, there are ten stock characterseach of whom, in the sixteenth century, would be recognizable to the audience by the use of a mask, stock gestures, and familiar demeanor. Wolfpack Theatre will be producing The Servant of Two Masters translated and adapted by modern author Jeffrey Hatcher. It is a cool combination of classic Commedia flair combined with modern jokes and puns that will entertain audiences of all ages and backgrounds.
