Playback Theater Emerges in Portland
After 10 years of performance on the Big Island of Hawaii Playback Theater Hawaii has re-formed as Playback Theater Portland, Oregon under the direction of Jackie Paris.
Playback is a theater of storytelling in which audience members describe experiences from their lives, and actors and musicians play their stories back on the spot. The form produces deeply moving and exciting entertainment that elicits laughs, tears, inspiration and everything in between.
"It's an indescribable feeling," said one story teller, "to pick an event out of your memory, and watch it come to life right before your eyes. I have found it so satisfying and healing."
Playback will perform monthly public performances here in the Portland area, and conducts workshops and private performances for corporations, non-profit organizations, therapeutic conferences, and individuals on a contract basis.
