Welcome To Our Home!

Olympic Cellars is a heritage winery located in the foothills of the Olympic Mountains. Founded in 1979, it is the 15th winery in Washington State and the first to locate on the North Olympic Peninsula. Now you know the stats!

Our small artisan winery is owned and operated by three feisty women entrepreneurs, better known as the Working Girls (Molly, Lisa and Kathy). And we're true to our name as we're actively involved in every aspect of the business.

When you visit our winery, you visit our home. We value the legacy that has been entrusted to us; a 121 year-old historic barn, a 100+ year old hand-crafted tasting bar, farm land that weve preserved with a small vineyard and a 100 year old bell that rings in the harvest. You also might say we are Gracefully Aging like our wine.

The barn may be a century ++ old, but we describe it as "barn nouveau". Our barrel shaped copper doors invite you into the tasting room where historic meets nouveau that envelopes you with warmth of color, art and whimsical style. Youre invited to taste wines, browse our gift shop, relax in the Gathering Room or step back into time as you gaze upwards into the towering cupolas in the cellar that reveals the architectural past of our majestic barn.

Thank you for visiting Harbinger Winery, where our mission in this life is to create ultra premium and incredibly drinkable wines from Washington State. The point is to get you, the customer, to feel the void left in your cellar when all of the Harbinger Wines have been gleefully consumed!

We go about doing this by purchasing the most intense and flavorful of grapes, then treating them like royalty from start to finish. Once selected, all of our fruit is then hand-picked and then crushed within hours of harvest. During fermentation, the caps are manually punched down several times a day.

Whenever Vicki and I are at a trade show a question we usually get is "Why Port Angeles?" Making wine on the North Olympic Peninsula of Washington State seems a bit out of the ordinary. Actually many wines in Washington are made on the "wet" west side of the Cascades from grapes on the "dry" east side. Our location may be some distance from the grapes, but ocean breezes on the Strait of Juan de Fuca make for cool moderate weather and are ideal for making wine - just not growing the grapes we like using.

Our wines are known for balance, intensity, and complexity that complement a wide range of foods and honor our vineyard partners' passion for quality and individuality. We focus on red and white Bordeaux grape varieties, adding varieties such as syrah, viognier, and tempranillo. Different lots of grapes are fermented with different yeasts and techniques to enhance the vineyard and varietal characteristics present. Both French and American oak is used. The proprietary red blend is of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petite Verdox and varies in proportion with the vintage. Sauvignon Blanc co-fermented with Semillion is blended with barrel-fermented viognier to produce a fresh, fruity white wine to complement area seafood.

We hope you enjoy our wine and share our philosophy of sharing life's best gifts.

Whether you have a sophisticated palate or just like tasting great Washington State wines, you will find something to enjoy at FairWinds Winery.

Aligote - A hearty white wine from the Burgundy area of France. We are the only winery in Washington State to produce this wine. Serve chilled and enjoy with salads or fish. Silver Medal ~ Northwest Wine Summit

Gewurztraminer - A wine that is not so sweet it masks the spiciness of this fine grape or so dry it would mask the fruitiness. The balance between fruit and spice will please your senses.

Lemberger- A great wine, gaining popularity in Washington State. Aged in American Oak barrels with a mellow flavor. Bronze Medal ~ Northwest Wine Summit

Cabernet/Merlot - Pure fruit flavors and aromas mark this vintner's blend of two Washington grapes, 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot. This wine is "fruit forward" and ages gracefully.

Cabernet Sauvignon - This wine has been sparingly oaked and is nicely balanced with lots of flavor. A medley of fruit greets the nose followed by a long, smooth finish, one of our favorites.

Fireweed Mead - This wine is made from the prized fireweed honey. The distinctive flavor of the honey is evident in this dry, crisp refreshing wine. Bronze Medal ~ Northwest Wine Summit

Blush - A pleasing sweet blush which presents a balance of sweetness and tanginess to please the taste buds. Chill, serve and enjoy!

Port O'Call - This is a rich and mellow port which can be enjoyed after dinner, with dessert or on its own. Bronze Medal ~ Washington State Wine Competition
