Russian Ridge Moonlight Hike - Fundraiser
You are invited to join the Sierra Club Loma Prieta Chapter for a special experience: Russian Ridge by Moonlight.
Russian Ridge comes alive when the sun sets! MROSD docents Chris MacIntosh, Mary Bernstein and Ann Reisenauer will introduce you to the spectacular grassland and chaparral wildflowers in this preserve as we hike 2 miles through rolling hills to the "deck" where you will enjoy dessert and tea as you watch the sunset. We will return to the parking area in the moonlight, enjoying night sights and sounds. Who knows, we may even see bats! Children and seniors welcome.
The hike will begin at 7pm from Russian Ridge Open Space Preserve parking lot and we will be back by 10 pm. Since we will be chasing sunset, please arrive a little early to be sure the group leaves on time. As no one is allowed on the trail past sundown without a docent, so please don't plan on leaving early.
Wear a light jacket, long pants, long sleeve tops and sturdy shoes. Bring your flashlight but leave your headlamps at home. We will be covering the flashlights with red cellophane to protect everyone's night vision. Don't forget to bring water.
Space is limited to 30 participants, so early registration is advised.
Russian Ridge Moonlight Hike is organized as a fundraiser for the Loma Prieta Chapter.
Directions: We will meet at the Preserve parking lot on the northwest corner of the Skyline Blvd (Highway 35) and Page Mill/Alpine Road intersection. Those traveling from I-280 on Page Mill Rd should allow 40 minutes travel time.
