One of Chicago's most beloved long-running storytelling events, Here Chicago, is an evening of high-caliber old-fashioned storytelling: no pages on our stage. Five invited tellers with a diverse range of perspectives and experiences join five storytellers straight out of the audience.
Here Chicago is a community-building event, featuring a giant potluck dinner. Through sharing food and stories, we provide an opportunity for Chicagoans from different professional, social, creative, political, cultural, religious and economic backgrounds to meet on common ground and know each other.
If you'd like to share a story, please bring a practiced, page-free story, 4-6 minutes long that you feel good about, and arrive at 7:30 pm to sign up. Not everyone can tell, but the odds are pretty good.

7:30 p.m. Potluck/ 8:00 p.m. Show
*Our focus at these evenings continues to be unscripted, embodied story; the kind of old-timey storytelling that is practiced under porch-lights and on street corners and by fire-sides by people who have a truth to tell, whether through fact or fiction. We're talking traveling salesmen, sacred clowns, cab-drivers and camp-counselors and medicine women and good dads at bedtime. Slam poets and solo performers, stand-up comics and performance artists and elementary school teachers and your grandma when someone was bored or fussy. Teachers, actors, ministers, doctors, writers... the person in your family who keeps the family and traditional stories alive by telling them. You.*
