RANI ARBO & GREG RYAN ~ LIVE AT LOST ACRES VINEYARD ~ NORTH GRANBY, CT
Saturday, May 10, 2014
Door @ 6PM Show @ 7PM $15 Advance $18 Door
Rani Arbo is a fiddler, guitarist, songwriter and song collector. She has toured nationally for more than 20 years, most recently with the quartet Rani Arbo & daisy mayhem (Signature Sounds), which frequents folk festivals from coast to coast. At Lost Acres Vineyard, Arbo offers up a rare duo show with master guitarist Greg Ryan, a versatile musician who specializes in gypsy jazz. In his native Vermont and around New England, Greg performs with his son Aidan as They Might Be Gypsies; he is also a frequent guest musician with Rani Arbo & daisy mayhem.
On the set list will be many of Arbo's wry, reflective originals, as well as traditional and cover songs, from Appalachian ballads to Anais Mitchell and Ray Lamontagne. Acoustic Guitar Magazine writes, "Arbo is blessed with an unmistakable voice, both light and sultry, with a hint of tremolo and smoke." Together with Ryan's rich, gravelly singing and emotive, powerful guitar, this duo casts a sweet and spooky musical spell.
Special Guest will be Hartford Advocate's Music Award Winner JOHN MAYOCK & DENNIS FANCHER will open the evening with a set of originals.
