American Modern Ensemble: Midtown Sound
Tenri Cultural Institute New York, NY
Our first concert of the season will feature NYC composers who are neither Uptown nor Downtown, but somewhere in-between. We're delighted to present works by some of NYCs best composers, including Adam Silverman's Ricochet, James Matheson's Pound for solo piano, Joseph Pehrson's Levitations for viola and piano and a work by Robert Paterson entitled The Thin Ice of Your Fragile Mind. We will also perform two recent works by two Pulitzer Prize winning composers: Melinda Wagner's Wick, an exciting, tour de force for chamber ensemble and Paul Moravec's thrilling Scherzo for Piano Trio. Finally, we are including two small works by Milton Babbitt and Elliot Sharp just for fun!
Note: The seating is general seating: we highly recommend you show up early to guarantee a good seat. Tickets are also available at the door one hour prior to the concert. If we are sold out, you can purchase standing room only tickets at the door for $15, one hour prior to the concert.
