Open HAUS with Schuhplattler Performance
Around the world, spring means love is in the air. Schuhplattler dances are dances of courtship, the men leaping and making loud noises to attract the ladies who twirl around the edges of the floor. Historically, Bavarian woodcutters spent their winters in the mountains and observed the elaborate mating rituals of the Auerhahn, a 3 foot tall, 12 pound grouse. Lonely woodcutters descended the mountains in spring and demonstrated their intentions through dances inspired by these birds.
