BARE BONES rise again for a rare reunion show!
Montreal duo Bare Bones (SUZANNE NUTTALL & PATRICK HUTCHINSON) came up with their distinctive stripped-down blend of rock & soul roots as the eighties turned into the nineties, and over the next six years performed in venues from punk rock dives to coffeehouses and folk festivals, from coast to coast in Canada and even up to the Yukon. As well as headlining their own shows, Bare Bones also opened shows for artists ranging from Ani DiFranco to Johnny Clegg, Procol Harum to Timbuk 3.
They recorded three albums and a couple of EPs, showcasing their strong original songs along with some striking covers. Over the past few months these recordings have been remastered for digital release, providing an excellent excuse for Suzanne Nuttall and Patrick Hutchinson to reunite for shows in Montreal and Toronto.
Bare Bones went out on a high note in 1995 with a packed farewell concert at Montreal's Café Campus, when Suzanne relocated to Toronto. For the next decade they pursued other projects and didn't play a note together, until a chance visit together to an old-time country night where they performed a couple of standards with the house band. This led to talk of a reunion show or two, and the pair were delighted to find that the music came back as naturally as if they had only taken a week off. Shows in Montreal and Toronto were hailed as being at least the equal of their heyday by original fans.
Since then they have performed a couple of shorter sets at other events when they happened to be in the same city and the planets aligned, but June 7th's show at The Flying Beaver Pubaret will be their first full Toronto concert since 2006.
Expect an evening of soulful, lean & tasty music, presented with wit and a rock 'n roll spirit!
