Join improv music genius Kyle Gossett (Villain: The Musical, Off-Book: Musical Morsels, Night Rhymers) to take you through a series of musical techniques and concepts that will convert your improv knowledge into musical form and have you running to the front of the stage to belt unforgettable improvised songs through emotional grounding, motifs, and recognizing song structures. You'll learn how to create instant choreography, skills for solo, duet, and ensemble numbers, and tricks to avoid the dreaded "rhyme trap." You'll also learn how find and work with a live musician to find the songs you've always wanted to sing! Explore the world of the improvised song. This six-week class offers short-form musical games, vocal technique, rhyming, character-through-music, long-form musical improvisation, and genre study. This immersion is perfect for those looking to challenge themselves with a more advanced form of improvisation.
Prerequisite: Must have completed a Level 1 and Level 2 class or by permission of the instructor.
Class meets from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. each Saturday, June 7--July 26.
