About The Leaping Lizards: This band offers Australiana Culture & Bushdancing Popular for: Themed Events , Community or Corporate Events, Festivals, & Bush Dances The Gold Coast based Leaping Lizards are truly one of the most experienced ambassador bands of their time. Multiple award holders and first choice in Aussie cultural entertainment to greet thousands of local and overseas gala corporate tourism and community events, continuously during 30 years of appearances on the Gold Coast and Australia wide. "Australian Heritage Roots Music" had been coined as a term for their unique rootsy Australiana sound. 2014 is a big year for the Leaping Lizards as they celebrate their 30th anniversary as a band along with brand new Double Album & lots of appearances nation wide! About Us: There is a uniquely rootsy ingredient the Leaping Lizards have maturated into their music, which escapes nailing down exactly what it is. They possess a mysterious ability to create an impressively big sound from a few lead instruments, a bass & a stomp box, while delivering inventive originals and swanky rearrangements of well known Australian standards. There is an undeniable stirring of the soul, alive and well in our historically connected cultural cores, activated by the band's infectious sound - (with & without the help of the brew and the ferment). It is recognized by the unconscious accompaniment of tapping feet and usually followed by the uninhibited stomp & twirl of abandonment! 2014 marks the 30th anniversary of the Leaping Lizards as a band! From good foundations set in 1984, the band has since had the perseverance, persistence, fortitude, grace & resilience to adapt and leap into everything the future brings towards them. Here in 2014, the Leaping Lizards represent an influentially edgy and determinate weave to the Australian musical fabric of our times. Marking this occasion is the release of a brand new double album, covering selected works resurrected from dusty boxes, chronologically representing 1984 to 2014. The album identifies a seamless evolution from raw to round, it has captured the syncopated tonal modulations, embedded within the band from its very beginnings... in defiance of changing membership over the years. It recognizes and names the efforts of no less than 13 members and 17 regular others, for their invaluable contribution to recordings, live performances and continued support, during this 30 year journey. The Leaping Lizards have been humbled by multiple awards during their career. Particularly thrilling was the unexpected success of their previous album "Shedding My Skin" Which collected 2 national awards : - Winners National Band - Victorian Country Music Awards - Winners Lifetime Achievement - Golden Fiddle Awards ..and multiple finalist nominations in : Best Composition - Golden Fiddle Awards Best Band - Golden Fiddle Awards Best CD - Golden Fiddle Awards Finalists - Australian Songwriters Awards, Sydney Finalists - Queensland State Music Awards, Brisbane Finalists- Queensland Country Music Awards, Charters Towers Finalists - Rebel Yelp Song Writing Awards, NT Semi Finalists - United Kingdom Song Writing Awards, London No1 on the AirIt - Folk & Country Charts (for radio airplay) With the first single releases lined up to be rolled out to radio from the brand new Double Album- The Leaping Lizards "Waltzing Through The Years", it is hoped the widespread Australian & overseas airplay established during the life of their previous album "Shedding My Skin", will successfully continue to be enjoyed!
