Melodrama Workout Night

It's a dark and stormy night... and you're in it. And may die... Melodrama joins music and drama using spectacle, gesture, pantomime, bold characters and physicality, heros and villains, the struggle of good and evil. The most expressive of the dramatic forms, we play with high stakes and emotions expressing fully in the body. Unlike method based psychological acting, Melodrama is akin to Artaud's "athlete of the emotions." And with the Grand Guignolers, expect not boring & fun.

BRING: an open attitude, willingness to get ugly, ready have FUN and play BIG. Leave pretentions, self consciousness, fear of being judged, the need to 'be funny,' and competitive nature out. Team playing mentality good. Judgmental know-it-alls or half-assed players bad.

Note: Please do not park in the Artworks lot. Street parking free after 7pm. Dress: neutral comfortable clothes you can move in easily (no jeans), solids (no adverts/busy patterns), good shoes (dance/sneakers) or barefoot, no dangling jewelry, hair must be secured off face. Please turn off cellphones during workshop.
