Evening Lecture with Brian Jennings: Rockland County and the Civil War at the HSRC
The Historical Society Presents an Evening Lecture:
Civil War, Politics, and Peace: Disputes on Rockland's Homefront
with Brian Jennings, History Librarian, New City Library
When: Thursday, June 12, 2014; 7:15 sharp Where: HSRC, 20 Zukor Road, New City Admission: $FREE (reservations required)
A discussion of the 1860 Presidential election as well as Rockland's response to the firing on Fort Sumter. Jennings will discuss the early companies formed in the County, the response of citizens to support their soldiers as well as the controversial Peace conventions in Rockland. Jennings analysis will be drawn, largely, from the coverage of events in local newspapers as well as through analysis of enlistment records and census documents.
Please join us at the HSRC, 20 Zukor Road, New City, NY, for this special evening lecture.
Admission is free, but space is limited, and reservations are required.
As a courtesy to the speaker, please arrive early to avoid interruptions. The lecture will begin promptly at 7:15. Latecomers with reservations may forfeit their seat. Walk-ins will be admitted only if space permits.
