Founded in 2012 by eminent latino and stand up comedian Ramon Rivas, the Accidental Comedy Fest takes place every September in Cleveland, OH.

Selected performers will:

FAQ's
Who's grading these submissions?

The submissions are graded by a panel of comedy fans who are regulars at Chucklefck shows in Cleveland.

How are they grading submissions?

The panel watches everyones videos for as long as they can. They are asked to give the videos a letter grade including a plus or minus as needed, and to include positive feedback and something to work on.

Why should I care what they think of my clip?

I mean, it's up to you. Some people use the same clip over and over for every comedy fest, which can rack up a few hundred dollars in submission fees. It may be helpful to know that the audio on your clip is subpar, or the video quality is underwhelming, or the clip isn't the best portrayal of your comedy.

How long should my clip be?
A good clip should be a single performance from start to finish in the 3-7 minute range. It will have clear video, the audio will be crisp and there won't be any audience chatter or ambient bar noise drowning out your set.

You can send a clip of any length for the panel to watch, but there's no guarantee they will be able to watch your headlining 45 minute video. I recommend you pick a clip that is:
a) recent
b) represents yourself well
c) has you doing well

I notice the fest is Sept 27-Oct 5 but I'm only be considered for the Sept 27-28 dates, what gives?

Thanks to curating the comedy stage at Ingenuity Fest for 4 years, there is a budget attached to that which enables Accidental to cover lodging at the Cleveland Hostel for performers during those dates. Ingenuity ends on Sept 29, so performers would not have lodging available thru the festival during the rest of the fest.

If you are interested in hanging around Cleveland for a few extra days, please indicate that in your submission email and it will be taken into account. Lots of Cleveland comics are open to hosting visiting performers for a night or two, but there's only a finite amount of such arrangements available.

This seems to just be for stand ups, are sketch/improv submissions not considered?

Quite the opposite! In years past, the festival has been mostly stand up as a result of a lack of submissions from other types of acts, but it would be great to add those things to the programming this year. Please include as much about your group as possible to help judges.

This festival is a lot of fun and I look forward to welcoming comedians to the upcoming comedy city of Cleveland, OH this fall.
