"YOU SAY OCTOBER, WE SAY SEPTEMBER!"

On the weekend of September 13th and 14th, Lugano Swiss Bistro and Monterey County Fairgrounds are presenting "The Monterey Bay Oktoberfest 2014."   As delivered in the past, this traditional German style outdoor festival promises to be a rousing beer garden party with several thousand people, complete with all the foamy fun and frivolity that millions of beer lovers across the world have come to enjoy.

The overwhelming success and growth of the Monterey Bay Oktoberfest each year since 2010 made it necessary for founder of the Monterey Oktoberfest and Owner of Lugano Swiss Bistro, Andre Lengacher, to find a bigger venue to stage this authentic Bavarian beer drinking festival. Monterey Fairgrounds was chosen because it can accommodate the thousands of people who attend and is now the home base for this annual German traditional festival that includes massive amounts of Spaten beer to be shipped from Germany just and local crafted beers to be featured for this event.

EVENTS:

Many new fun-filled activities like the Beer Stein Holding Contest, Dachshund Races, Porche Vintage Car Displays and a Jr. Ms. Oktoberfest Contest have been added to the attractions as well as a Petting Zoo and bounce houses for the kids to infuse the two day event, in addition to the Opening Parade lead by Ms. Oktoberfest and the St. Pauli Girls.  See website at www.montereybayoktoberfest.com for event program.

Event Promoter, Chef Andre Lengacher, Owner of Lugano Swiss Bistro, says: "To me, Oktoberfest is a great time of camaraderie, beer, dancing, Lederhosen, funit's just fun." Revelers will listen and dance to The Flying Dutchman with his wide array of musical talents, and The Internationals, a well-established Bay Area-based band that plays dance music from around the world.

FOOD & VENDORS:

Delicious mouth-watering Oktoberfest food will be on the menu: Bratwurst, Calamari, Bavarian-style Turkey Legs, German Pretzels, Apple Strudel and more.  More food lines have been added for faster service.

Browse through the fairgrounds to enjoy select arts and crafts vendors and, of course, there is the beerAhh, is there anything better than a great big stein of Munich Oktoberfest brew. Monterey Bay Oktoberfest, as with all Oktoberfests around the world is about quaffing great beer, partying with wonderful, enthusiastic members of the community and celebrating life, German style.

MS. OKTOBERFEST CONTEST:

Amber Phillips, from Racey Promotions, won Ms. Oktoberfest 2013 and will lead the German Parade with The St. Pauli Girls through the fairgrounds, along with previous winners of Ms. Oktoberfest and hopeful participants for the contest dressed in traditional dirndl.  On Sunday, a pageant to crown Miss Oktoberfest 2015 will take place and all local women are encouraged to participate wearing decorative dirndl.

OPENING CEREMONIES:

In keeping with the tradition in Germany, a city official will break open the first keg of beer on Saturday and on Sunday, Monterey Bay and Beyond with Hunter Finnell, the Master of Ceremonies, will tap open the keg to get the festivities started.

BENEFICIARIES OF OKTOBERFEST:

The Monterey Bay Oktoberfest is committed both to having fun and togiving back to local communities.  By supporting Oktoberfest, you will also help local services. Last year proceeds were over $15,000 given to Carmel Host Lion, Cannery Row Rotary and Heritage Foundation.
