Beethoven's Hair Gala Event
PLEASE NOTE: The movie will be shown twice, once at 7 pm, and once at 8:30 pm. At the front door, indicate the movie screening you would like to attend. Please plan to arrive at 6:30 pm because there will be numerous other activities taking place, all of which will be repeated after the 7 pm movie concludes. These include: piano and string quartet concerts, opera arias, tours of the Beethoven Center, book signings, wine tasting, scrumptious food, and more!

The movie and book, Beethoven's Hair, documents the odyssey of a lock of hair from Ludwig van Beethoven, cut upon his death by composer Ferdinand Hiller. On October 28, at a special private screening and gala (6:30 p.m.) in the Martin Luther King Library in downtown San Jose after it closes to the public, the community can view the movie and the master's actual hair, enjoy scrumptious foods and wines and string quartet and piano concerts, meet the author of the book, and the director of the film, and support both the Ira F. Brilliant Center for Beethoven Studies at San Jose State, and the San Jose Jewish Film Festival. Tickets are $125, $70 tax deductible.
