BRONX WORLD FILM CYCLE OFFERS FIRST SUMMER EVENT IN MANHATTAN
Central American and World Cinema/Arts Event at "La Nacional" June 1st

New York, New York, April 15th, 2014. This year Bronx World Film Cycle, New York City's premier Central American-inspired world cinema and multiarts event, holds its first summer screening in Manhattan along with an art exhibit, a concert, curated World Music soundtrack and Central American finger foods. The annual flagship program of Bronx World Film, Inc., a non-profit corporation founded in 2011, has been held every year at "La Nacional," (the Spanish Benevolent Society's 14th Street Manhattan brownstone) near the Meatpacking District. This year's Cycle will be the first major event held there after a major remodelling.

Tri-State area audiences can rediscover the psychological thriller in the first New York City retrospective dedicated to the edgy work of award-winning Montreal-based, Salvadoran-born Patricia Chica; roam a landscape of abandoned synagogues in Europe with the world premiere of Art in Heaven, a tribute by Z. S. Rosenfeld; and tease their brain with Óscar Berrío's puzzle-like videopoems. All three directors will be at a Meet the Filmmaker forum. The event includes an art exhibit by visual artist Linus Coraggio, inventor of "3-D graffiti;" a curated soundtrack by World Music specialist and radio personality DJ Neva Wartell; a concert with singer Lara Bello, Garífuna musician James Lovell and surprise guests; and an after-party.

Bronx World Film (www.bronxworldfilm.org) is a not-for-profit dedicated to independent film industries as engines for integral human development. It creates film and multiarts events for underserved communities and partners for independent local film production.
