Growing Livable Communities 3-Day Intensive Workshop
Accelerate your Livable Community Initiative! Join your peers and leaders in the sustainability, transition and localization movements to start, grow and maintain livability initiatives in your community. This intensive workshop will give you the framework, tools and connections to launch and sustain your local initiative.
DATES: June 27-29, 2014 Friday, June 27: 8am-9pm Saturday, June 28: 8am-9pm Sunday, June 29: 8am-4pm
FORMAT: Highly interactive, hands-on, engaging and action-oriented
LOCATION: Alice Ferguson Foundation, Potomac Watershed Study Center in Accokeek, Maryland. This educational facility, designed to meet the Living Building Challenge©, is Net-Zero Energy, Net-Zero Water and Carbon Neutral.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES: 1. Design a specific and effective roadmap and action plan to jump-start a long-lasting sustainability initiative for your community uniting business, government, academic and community sectors. 2. Learn how to organize and accelerate the sustainability movement in your community with measurable results. 3. Join a network of regional livability hubs to support your initiative.
EXPECTED RESULTS: As a result of this workshop, you will be able to: Design a green community hub in your town to accelerate sustainability and grow your local economy Create a meaningful action plan to identify, launch and grow impactful local programs Identify and engage key stakeholders in your business, government, academic and community sectors Develop leadership, entrepreneurship and organizational development skills required to build an initiative Connect with a network of other green leaders to share resources, establish partnerships and foster collaborations
