I AM NOTHING LIKE MY MOTHER by Christine Corpuz
The one-woman show, I AM NOTHING LIKE MY MOTHER, written and performed by Christine Corpuz, originally debuted at New York University's Graduate Acting Freeplay Festival in 2007. Since then, it was re-mounted and produced by New York City's Nuyorican Poet's Cafe, earning Christine an Audelco/Viv Robinson Award nomination in Best Solo Performance for 2008.
Now being presented with support and in association with The Whitefire Theatre, Christine Corpuz is now making the show's west coast debut!
I AM NOTHING LIKE MY MOTHER explores the contradictions we face each day, and the means by which we choose to accept or deny, and laugh or cry, through their existence.
"As a daughter of an immigrant who might not look like everyone else, who might not look like mainstream America, Corpuz's characters will ultimately look familiar to an audience who values that the heart cannot betray itself, even if it does speak with a Filipino accent..." - Olivia Quinto, Philippine News
