Melanie Martinez at The LAB
Atlantic Records has announced the debut release from acclaimed singer/songwriter Melanie Martinez. "THE DOLLHOUSE EP" arrives on May 20th and is highlighted by the stunning new single, "Dollhouse," which is available now on the iTunes Store (itunes.apple.com/us/album/dollhouse-single/id813791270). In addition, the track's compelling companion video is fast approaching 1 million individual views at Martinez's official YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/Melmartinezx3. Co-written by Martinez with GRAMMY Award-nominated tunesmiths Kinetics & One Love (B.o.B, Neon Hitch), the dark pop dream of "Dollhouse" has already earned an array of ecstatic critical notices.
Having spent much of 2013 selling out clubs across the country, Martinez will celebrate "THE DOLLHOUSE EP" with her biggest national tour to date, kicking off June 4th at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania's World Café and continuing through the end of June.
Martinez who is also currently hard at work finishing her eagerly awaited debut album alongside such collaborators as Robopop (Jessie J, Lana Del Rey) and the aforementioned Kinetics & One Love has been hailed as a provocative singer, songwriter, and visual presence. The song "positions Martinez as an American version of Lorde," writes Newsday. "(Martinez) sings about a picture-perfect family that is much more troubled under the surface," declared Us Weekly, noting that Martinez a former contestant on NBC's smash reality singing competition series, The Voice "might be the show's first real breakout star." The Long Island, New York-native captured the country's imagination with her arresting performances on the highly rated Fall 2012 season of NBC's The Voice, driving her unique renditions of "Too Close" and "Seven Nation Army" to top 5 sales on the iTunes Store. In addition, Martinez' rendition of "Toxic" lit YouTube on fire, earning more than 6 million individual page views.
