The Bronx Concert Singers - Mad About Mozart
Experience the power, beauty and genius of the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Join The Bronx Concert Singers, with Music Director Robert Rene Galvan, for their 28th Annual Spring Concert, Mad About Mozart, on Sunday May 17 at 4:30 pm, at St. Pauls Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1891 McGraw Avenue, in Parkchester, Bronx, NY. This all Mozart program features sacred and secular choral, solo and instrumental works accompanied by professional soloists and chamber orchestra. General admission tickets are $20 each two for $35. Tickets for seniors and students with valid ID are $15 and children through high school are only $5. Mad About Mozart features several dynamic works for chorus and soloists including Alma Dei Creatoris, K. 277; Missa Brevis in D minor, K. 65; Misericordias Domini, K. 222 and Regina Coeli, K. 276. Mozarts charming Concerto for Oboe in D major, K. 314 and beloved Alleluja from the solo motet for soprano Exsultate, jubilate, K. 165, and additional works, further explore the depths of his creativity. Soloists for Mad About Mozart are Melissa Raymond, soprano; Jennifer Ponzoni, mezzo soprano; Dale Smith, tenor; James Bobick and Dalton Taylor, baritones; Harry Thompson, bass; members of the BCS ensemble, and Heather Peyton, oboe. Keyboardist for the program is BCS accompanist Joyce Smith.
Mad About Mozart is made possible with public funds from the Bronx Council on the Arts through the New York State Council on the Arts Decentralization Program; public funds from the Bronx Council on the Arts through the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs Greater New York Arts Development Fund Regrants Program, Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion and the Bronx Delegation of the City Council, and, the generous contributions of individuals, businesses and organizations that believe in the importance of community arts programs.
The Bronx Concert Singers is a nonprofit performing arts organization founded in the Parkchester section of the Bronx by people from all walks of life who love singing great choral music. The ensemble presents classical music concerts with either professional orchestra or chamber ensemble and has been a source of cultural enrichment in the community since 1981. BCS is the chorus-in-residence at St. Pauls Evangelical Lutheran Church.
