PATTERNS: For Some Reason, It Really Tickled Me.
PATTERNS is a new performance art piece that distills love down to the fragility of a touch and the whirl of a movement: differing from a traditional stage performance, this work invites audiences to feel through multiple mediums how it is that love subtly shapes everyday actions and stillness.
There are two parts to each evening of performances: The first part, "For Some Reason", is centered around the story of a butcher's daughter, Amot, who fallsin love. Amot faces a stroke in the second part, "It Really Tickled Me", and her awareness of what it means to be in a romantic relationship shifts. A three video channel installation frames both the stage and the audience, from start to finish, with a beautiful, unexpected landscape, expanding the story played on the stage out into a larger world.

Premiering in San Francisco's Hayes Valley Directed by Henry Godinez Created by Amy Munz
Romantic, optimistic love, could you hold it? Nestled into a neat narrative, maybe. But, when you look at a face, there are cars speeding on your right and memories coming up from behind. Pushing and pulling - A face doesn't stay a face. Physics with its relativity. Its quantum behavior. Mirror neurons and reflections. Coordination, motion, and -ohlookwhat- there's a gap. Layers of knowledge won't let it be one thing.
You may look straight on at a story, but other lives and emotions will puncture it. Landscapes will form and pass. Videos and voice. Action and touch. It's a dance.
Come. You are in the middle of it.
