Pretty Girls
Ideal Beauty exists and can be achieved by anyone through sacrifice and hard work. Welcome to the Church of Beauty, where commandments are issued in a monthly magazine and communion is taken with Miss Universe acting as your priest. We enter the Church at a crucial time, it is the Anniversary Exhibition and an aging Head Mistress stands in grave peril of losing her job. To save her position of power she must recruit and makeover three Beauty Atheists. The play follows their trials and tribulations on the path to Beauty redemption. Inspired by the writings of Naomi Wolf Pretty Girls examines the role of beauty in society and the great power it has to interfere in modern relationships.
